It’s Time to Get Excited about Jesus!
We live in a day when it’s no longer popular to believe the unsullied, unequivocal gospel of Jesus Christ. Oh, we can leap from our chairs cheering for our favorite NFL team, but to leap from our seats to praise God–well, that’s just too much. You know exactly what I mean.
But the day is soon coming when we will have no time for leisure activities, no interest in anything but keeping a roof over our heads and our children fed. Then where will our allegiance be?
Romans 1:16 says: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone that believes…”
I’m humbled to admit that I’ve often found myself gauging the reaction of the people around me before speaking out as a witness for Christ. May God forgive me for that. From now on, I want to be so excited, so bold, that it flows from my mouth like a river, unstoppable because it’s like a spring, a flood I cannot stop. I want to be so alive and excited about Jesus that people stop me on the street to ask me what’s going on. I want to be desperate for His presence. I want to know Christ and love Him so much, that for me to live and move and breathe is all about Jesus–that I consult Him on every decision, and praise Him for His greatness no matter what else is happening around me. That I practice His presence, and have a running dialogue going with Him all day everyday!
More than anything I want people to see Jesus when they look at me. I want them to see that man’s opinion means nothing and God’s means everything. I want to be so God- conscious that I know exactly what He is thinking and my heart is His heart. I want to see people like Jesus does. Not their outward appearance, but their hearts. I want to see the ravaged lives they’ve lived, and understand why they are the way they are, for in doing so, I will be able to look past the crazy or hurtful things they do, and see the God-need in their very souls. And I’ll be able to love and minister to them like Jesus did, pointing the way to salvation.
I want to hunger after righteousness as I do after food. I want to grieve over sin and its awful consequences the way it grieves God. I want to be full of compassion, speaking words of life and boldly praying out loud for strangers on the street if they’re willing. I want to bring the influence of Jesus Christ into every situation, because He BELONGS in every situation. He is our creator, our Lord, our wisdom, our hope, our salvation, the shade on our right hand, our victory, our peace, our provider, our comforter, our counselor, and the ANSWER for every question. He belongs in every situation, and soon we won’t be able to survive a single moment without Him.
It’s a privilege to serve God! And it’s time to get excited about Jesus! Let us seek Him first, asking Him what to do next, glorifying Him in all we do and say so the light of Christ can be seen far and wide, amid the ever-growing darkness around us…
Because of His great love,
Nancy
