When You Think God Isn’t Listening

Published by nancyarantwilliams at 5:52 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Have you ever been so desperate that you banged hard on the brass doors of heaven, but got no answer? It may seem like God doesn’t care during these times, that He refuses to acknowledge your need, but guess what? That’s not what’s happening at all.

The reality is, God doesn’t respond to demands, to yelling, to orders from you or me. He responds to those who submit to Him, who come with contrite and humble hearts, who need Him and know they have nowhere else to go.

Our God does care. His heart is tuned to hear our heartcries, but we can’t force His hand or put Him in a box. If He let us do that, it would be contrary to His character. He is in control. He created us and the universe.

And as it says in Job, (paraphrased), “Does that created thing tell the Creator what to do?” Not going to happen.

But God does listen when we call. Just like a new mother who sleeps lightly enough to wake at even the sigh of her newborn child, His heart is tuned to hear our cries. If we come to Him with the right attitude, like a little child who just wants the comfort and encouragement of his daddy, God will answer.

When we start demanding our way, God will never answer. He is waiting for us to trust Him, to wait on Him, and seek His face, because we are desperate for Him. At the point where He is our very life and breath, and hope, and without Him we die.

If you read Psalms you will find the tender heart of God demonstrated as nowhere else. In a thousand ways it shows that when we are needy He is there. When we manipulate Him, He will not answer.

The point is this. If God isn’t answering, check your tone of voice. And adjust your attitude. God is waiting for you, but He won’t come on your terms. If you demand your own way, God will not be there, but if your heart is right, He will run to you, lift you up, and minister to you as never before.

We serve an incredible, tender-hearted God who wants a warm and loving relationship with His kids. It won’t work any other way.

Because of His great love,

Nancy

Yes, I’ve come to learn that God is who He is– no matter what I feel!
