Doing the Right Thing When Nobody’s Looking

Published by nancyarantwilliams at 7:40 am under Uncategorized Edit This

We’re going to revisit a subject I’ve mentioned before, because it’s so vital in our day. Doing the right thing when nobody’s looking. Why is this subject so important?

Well, for Christians, it’s life or death that we get the concept down. The thing that distinguishes us from unbelievers is that we have clean hands and a pure heart. What does that mean?

It means that the devil has nothing to hold against us, nothing with which to accuse us. And when it comes to the devil we need to be blameless, choosing to rely on the Lord when our old man would like nothing better than to cheat, steal or lie to protect our assets, get out of trouble, or deny we’ve done wrong.

But what happens when we do that? We hogtie the Spirit of God, who has Plan B in mind to save our sorry hides. He always anticipates our needs, and He always tells us to wait on Him. But do we? How often do we do an end run around the situation rather than going to God as that needy little child?

We serve an incredible God, all powerful, all knowing, always there, ready to minister to our needs. So how must He feel when we turn to look at Him and say, “Never mind, God. I think I can handle this one myself.”

He knows we muck it up every time we meddle out of our flesh, but as a Gentleman He waits for us, in our desperation, to realize how much we need Him.

So why is it we can’t learn to rely on Him before we get into trouble? Well, time is short, and His return is very near. But before that time, we’ll probably need Him as never before. So what will we do when that happens? Now is the time to make up our minds. Will we follow Jesus or take the easy way out? Now is the time to repent and draw near to God as never before. A word to the wise is sufficient.

Because of His great love,

Nancy
