Abide in Me

Published by nancyarantwilliams at 6:43 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Remember that song? What does it mean to abide in Him? We’ve rather lost the concept of abiding. In fact, where do you even hear that word anymore?

My grandmother knew what it meant to abide. She knew her hiding place was in the shadow of the Almighty, that she could throw her apron up over her head and just commune with God, even when others were around. And she had a gift for praising the Lord all day long and praying without ceasing that I’ve never seen anywhere else.

Who does that anymore? Well, I’m learning. And I think that’s going to be the key to victory during the times that are ahead. I’ve always hoped we’d be caught up before things got much worse, but whatever happens, I need to know I have a hiding place where I can go to be filled, refreshed, and comforted. The truth is, if we look back at history, God doesn’t always remove His children from the fire. Sometimes He walks through it with them. And if that’s the plan I don’t want to be hindered because I had preconceived and incorrect ideas that I was holding onto more than I was holding onto God.

We can truly be excited during these days, because if we’ve ever wanted souls, even asked God for souls, this is the time we’ll see them come, ready to hear and receive. I’ve asked for souls, in fact, my heart aches for those who don’t know Christ, those who are headed for a terrible end without God.

These are the times we need to draw near and press in, making our requests known to God, and believing Him for answers as never before. He says, “Ask,” so why don’t we? Because most of us have never needed answers this way before. We’ve never experienced signs and wonders and miracles, but our time is coming. Scripture says that in the end times the devil will counterfeit amazing things, but if we look back into the Old Testament we find that God trumped every single fake miracle the devil ever did. So we can be confident we are on the winning side, that when we pray for healing, God will touch if we don’t doubt. That He will provide and redeem and give victory if we stand in faith. The thing is, we’ve never needed to do this before, and we’re going to need a crash course in last days power.

Well, that’s what I’ve signed up for. Bring it on, Lord, and reveal everything I need to know to be equipped for what’s coming. Let me exalt your name above everything else, and let me see your glory, to build my faith taller than those mountains that hinder us.

And most of all, I want to learn to abide in you, in that hiding place where all is peace, and the glory of the Lord fills the space where it abides. That’s the place where I want to be. What about you?

Because of His great love,

Nancy
