A Double-minded Man
Scripture says a doubleminded man is unstable in all his ways. Now my flesh would love to argue, “Lord, there are only a couple of tiny areas where I struggle. That doesn’t make me unstable in all my ways, does it?”
And yet there it is in black and white, which I believe, means that there are areas that are hidden from our natural minds, revealed only to the spirit that is open to it, where God reveals areas of hold out.
So the question is: are we ready to receive the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth from God, if that’s what it will take to deliver us, to set us free, and allow us to function the way He wants us to?
An awesome thought, huh?
Isaiah 55:6-7 says this: Seek the Lord while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake His ways and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him, and to our God for He will abundantly pardon.
At first glance it sounds like the Lord is talking about unsaved, unregenerate men. But a closer look lets us see that He uses the word “return” to describe these men. That means they know Him, have tasted the goodness of the Lord and have forsaken His ways.
Could that be describing us who think we walk in righteousness? That should give us pause. If so, it also says “while He may be found.” Doesn’t that means there is a window of opportunity when it’s possible, after which time, it won’t be? That’s how that verse reads to me. So the question is: for those who have an ear to hear, will we ask the Lord to reveal to us areas we’ve never seen where we are NOT walking in righteousness?
Do we dare hear the truth while there’s still time? Think of it this way: If we aren’t doing our assigned tasks, like hearing when God gives us a divine appointment where someone will be saved, healed, delivered, encouraged, or even raised from the dead, who’s doing our work in our absence? No one. And the lost and downcast are dying without a wakeup call.
That revelation breaks my heart, and it should break the heart of every true believer. My friends, we weren’t put here on earth just to have a good time and entertain ourselves with our blessings. We were put here to be the voice and arms and heart of Jesus Christ to those around us who are dying and going straight to hell. There is no other way. We either do our assignments or they don’t get done. I include myself here.
This should be a time of deep soul-searching where we lie prostrate before the Lord, asking Him to reveal to us the deep things we’ve never wanted to know before, so we can let go of our sin and walk in power.
Show us, Lord, before it’s too late and the souls of hell- bound men are required at our hand. Deliver us, Lord, from self-centeredness, because we were bought with great price, the precious blood of Jesus. And let us not take that lightly for a moment.
Because of His great love,
Nancy
