The Reason We’re Here
The other day I heard Author/Speaker John Bevere preach on something I had never heard before, but it witnessed with my spirit, so I want to share it.
He said that although we won’t be judged the same way as those who don’t know Christ, He will judge us, not according to what we did, but according to whether or not we lived out the plan He designed for us from the beginning of time. Not living up to our potential is called “missing the mark,” and is one of the definitions of the word “sin.”
For example if you were called to be a mother and raise children God intended to use for His glory and instead you decided to go out and find a career, foregoing marriage and children, God will not be impressed one iota if you made millions and a big name in your field. He will say you have lost your reward because you didn’t live up to the plan He had for you.
On the other hand if you settled for being a wife who did nothing but stay home with her children, when He also called you to be a speaker or a writer, you will be judged if you said, “I don’t think so, God.” Interestingly enough, whatever God tells us to do He will use in amazing and even miraculous ways if we let Him. But if our assignment goes begging because we said no–well, there’s no other way to say it. We will lose our reward.
If you’re like me, you probably never gave any thought to this subject before. Perhaps like me, you thought that if you did the best you could with your talents you would please God. Apparently not so.
It behooves us to think on these things. What is it He called you to do? What dream did He give you–when you were young? What miraculous promise did He make to you that never materialized because you went in another direction?
The thing is–though you might think it’s too late to do what God called you to do, remember, in Scripture the owner of the vineyard rewarded his workers with the same amount of money whether they worked an hour or all day. God says it’s never too late to get back on track and do something with the talents He’s given us.
What about you? Is there something you’ve left undone?
Let him who has an ear hear what the Spirit is saying to man.
Because of His great love,
Nancy
