Be Anxious for Nothing

Published by nancyarantwilliams at 6:53 am under Uncategorized Edit This

In was reading in Philippians 4 this morning, and I found a precious nugget, a gem that I had to share with you. In these times men are looking everywhere for something secure, something to hold onto while everything around them is like shifting sand.

It’s not new. You’ve heard it before. Phil. 4:6-7: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, let your request be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Then I read verse 19, which is an often quoted passage: “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Wow. Those three verses are the answer to the huge question: “Where can I find a place of peace?”

It’s not in external things, as we believers are already well aware, but sometimes we get into fear, and forget that the foundation of our faith and peace is found in those three verses. So we need to keep our focus on Christ, on getting into that secret place and telling Him everything that’s on our hearts. Telling Him what’s bothering us, what we worry about, and what we need. And when we do that, He replaces those cares with grace and peace.

We have it all wrapped up in a package secured with everything but a little red bow. He is our hiding place, our peace, our supply, our comfort, the lifter of our heads, and our victory. So let’s run there often for grace to help in time of need.

Here I must turn a corner and bring up something I’ve never heard before, a truth that is very powerful. Yesterday I was listening to a Perry Stone teaching and he said something profound. He said the devil trembles at hearing the Word of God read aloud. I marveled that in all my years I had never heard or realized that before, though it makes perfect sense.

Now if I wasn’t motivated to read the Word before, I am now, simply because it holds so much power over our enemy the devil. The Word spoken out loud is a living thing, powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword. So what are we doing with the Word?

The other night I heard Brother Andrew, God’s Smuggler, say that while the rest of the world is desperate for Bibles, Americans have them stacked on our shelves and never open them at all. When he said that he became incensed and nearly spat at the waste of it all.

So from now on, I’ll look at my Bible with a brand new reverence and read it out loud with boldness to put the enemy to flight. Hallelujah!

Because of His great love,

Nancy
